Follow in the footsteps of Norman Rockwell, America’s most beloved illustrator, on this 6-day jaunt through New England. You’ll visit the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, the National Museum of American Illustration in Newport, Rhode Island, and the Norman Rockwell Museum of Rutland, Vermont. Along the way, you’ll tour The Breakers mansion, a 70-room Italian-style palazzo built by the Vanderbilts, spend a nostalgic day in Boston and visit the inspiring, open-air Cathedral of the Pines—featuring plaques designed by Rockwell. Itinerary

Day 1—Albany, New York: Your exploration of New England kicks off from the birth state of America’s most beloved painter and illustrator. Meet fellow travelers at our hotel. Welcome Reception included.

Day 2—Stockbridge/North Granby/Manchester: See Stockbridge, Massachusetts, where Rockwell settled with his family and tour the Norman Rockwell Museum, home of more than 700 original paintings and drawings—the world’s largest collection!

You’ll have time to browse in Stockbridge. Later we’ll visit Lost Acres Orchard in North Granby, Connecticut where over 20 kinds of apples make amazing pies! Enjoy a slice before we continue to Manchester. Meals included: B, L.

Day 3—New London/ Mystic/Newport: Submerge yourself in nautical history at the Submarine Force Museum in New London. Then enjoy free time in the seaside village of Mystic, Connecticut. In Newport, Rhode Island, explore the Breaker’s Mansion—a 70-room Italian-style palazzo, built by the Vanderbilts. You’ll also tour the National Museum of American Illustration, featuring work by Rockwell. Meals included: B.

Day 4—Newport/Boston: Today, get a “taste” of Boston, New England’s largest city. We’ll start at the JFK Library and Museum, which portrays the life of our 35th President. You’ll savor authentic Italian cuisine just blocks away from the Old North Church. Plus, enjoy a narrated city tour of Boston’s colorful neighborhoods, winding up in the historic North End. Meals included: B, L.

Day 5—Rindge/Ludlow: Wake up your senses with a panoramic view of Mount Monadnock, in Rindge, New Hampshire, from Cathedral of the Pines. This open-air cathedral features a bell tower with plaques designed by Norman Rockwell and cast in bronze by his son, Peter. Nearby, we’ll stop at East Hill Farm for a country-style lunch before continuing to the Pointe Hotel at Castle Hill. Meals included: B, L, D.

Day 6—Rutland/Arlington/Albany: Today offers a grand finale of places and people from Rockwell’s life. Relive American history from 1911- 1978 through a chronological display of paintings in the Normal Rockwell Museum in Rutland. At the Sugar Shack in Arlington, meet a living model of the famous artist. Finally, tour the Inn on Covered Bridge Green, a former home of Rockwell, before we return to Albany to say our nostalgia-filled good-byes. Meals included: B, L.
