Explore our nation's fascinating past on this exciting tour of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania countryside. You'll walk in the footsteps of Jefferson and Franklin…meet warmhearted Amish folks…plus relax while you enjoy gorgeous springtime or autumn color and more. It's an American adventure of discovery you'll remember for years!
Day 1—Philadelphia: Welcome to "the city of brotherly love!" Join us at our opening hotel and meet your new traveling friends at a relaxed evening gathering. Welcome Reception included.
Day 2—Philadelphia: Today we'll immerse ourselves in American history on an exciting Philadelphia tour. You'll see Betsy Ross's house, visit a one-of-a-kind museum devoted to Ben Franklin and peer down the oldest street in the original 13 colonies. A highlight today is the National Constitution Center, where you'll feel as if you're meeting the Founding Fathers in person! After lunch, we'll behold one of the most revered symbols of American freedom—the Liberty Bell. Then we'll walk in the footsteps of the Founding Fathers at Independence Hall. Meals included: B, L.
Day 3—Lancaster County: We start today with a visit to beautiful Longwood Gardens, the former estate of industrialist Pierre S. du Pont, with 1,050 acres of gardens, woodlands and meadows.
Later, we'll head to Lancaster County where many Amish families still plant and harvest with horse teams. Taste your way through the Jam & Relish Kitchen at Kitchen Kettle Village, then we'll go right to the source when we sample the homemade ice cream on our visit to Lapp Valley Farm.
Tonight, enjoy an enthralling multi-media presentation of Jacob's Choice, an intimate look at Amish life, then partake in a "pass-the-platter" Amish Farm Feast.
Meet the Lapp family on their Mennonite farm and enjoy a homecooked Amish lunch prepared by the Stoltzfus family.
This is our first of three comfortable nights at spacious Willow Valley Resort. Meals included: B, D.
Day 4—Gettysburg: This morning, stand where Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address and tour the battleground where North met South in the Battle of Gettysburg.
Lunch today is an unforgettable meal at the Dobbin House Tavern, built in 1776! Later we'll visit the Pennsylvania home that served as a "temporary White House" for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Meals included: B, L.
Day 5—Hershey: Today we'll enjoy a mouth-watering "taste tour" of Pennsylvania. We'll visit Hoedecker Celery Farm, the Sturgis Pretzel House and then get to know the "man behind the chocolate bar" on our tasty tour of Hershey, Pennsylvania.
We'll return to Willow Valley and enjoy a relaxing dinner together tonight. Meals included: B, D.Day 6—Morgantown/Philadelphia: We'll return to Amish country this morning, then savor a bountiful Amish lunch at the home of Levi and Lydia Stoltzfus.
Back in Philadelphia, we'll say good-bye—then head for home with lots of cherished memories. Meals included: B, L.high 65° /low 40° (Sept./Oct.)
